The latest book in Michael Thomas’ Elusive India series is on his experiences travelling in the region of Ladakh and Kashmir. It includes his photographs of the people and places he encountered on his trips.
I copy-edited the text and co-ordinated changes in MS Word with the author.
To retain the feel of the series, I based the design on the previous books (designed by Sue Walker). It uses the same typefaces but has a different grid, and page furniture, more suitable to the kind and length of the content.
After sketching options, I discussed design approaches and image placement with the author. I did the layout and typesetting, then created final artwork for the printers Calverts, and made a web-friendly pdf.
The resulting 228-page book has 185 images and about 53,000 words: Elusive India: Ladakh and the Kashmir Valley (Michael Thomas, Pipal Press 2019)
