Pilot projects to assess existing wayfinding at Royal Berkshire Hospital (RBH) and propose solutions – most of these proposals were not adopted. However, other projects to improve the clarity and legibility of the site maps and to propose a new type of site directory were completed.
New site map design. Redraw base site map to include new buildings, show all building entrances and access routes, and apply colour-coding approved by RBH. Provide user-oriented versions of site map for each RBH entrance.
Propose new type of site directories: two-metre wide text-based listings which use the RBH colour-coding and include a user-oriented site map for context. Layout, typesetting and artwork for all directories and maps.
