Whiteknights campus external wayfinding maps and signs

Whiteknights is the main University of Reading campus. The campus is about 130 hectares (321 acres) and most of it is parkland.

New buildings, changes to the names and use of buildings, campus improvements etc. all affect external wayfinding.

I conducted an annual review of signs as well as regular small-scale reviews of the campus to update existing signs, remove obsolete signs and install new maps and signs.

My reviews involved site visits and wayfinding audits to assess the types, amounts, content and locations of signs required. I also drafted specifications in MS Word to request supplier quotes for budgeting.

My proposal consisted of a photo-based report (which also acted as a proof) and annotated maps showing sign types and general locations (including obsolete signs for removal). After sign-off I provided final specifications, supplier instructions and artwork.
